Alan Turing
AI Hologram

The Algorithmic Genius Returns to Decode the Future

Alan Turing profoundly shaped the course of modern thought. His abstract equations became the grammar of today’s digital world and the seed of artificial intelligence. More than seventy years after his theories gave birth to machine intelligence, Turing returned not as a portrait in history books but as an active participant in the global technology dialogue.

During MSP GLOBAL 2025 in PortAventura (Barcelona), Acronis introduced a full-scale hologram of Alan Turing inside a holobox. In front of thousands of attendees, the father of AI emerged as a living presence, a self-aware projection capable of reasoning, speaking, and reacting in real time. With breathtaking realism and fluid responsiveness, the interactive hologram not only captured attention but also became the embodiment of the very question Turing himself once posed: Can machines think? This time, the answer stood right before us.

Background

MSP GLOBAL 2025, Spain:
A Global Hub for IT and Cybersecurity Leaders

Each year, MSP GLOBAL brings together experts from technology, cybersecurity, and data innovation. The 2025 edition, held at the PortAventura Convention Center in Barcelona, opened with an unexpected guest: Alan Turing himself, restored in human scale and ready to address the room.

On the main stage, his holographic figure delivered a keynote on intelligence, logic, and the creative process behind computation, addressing thousands of professionals gathered under the theme “Empowering the Future of MSPs.”  His cadence was sharp, his humor dry, and his reasoning lucid, all unfolding live through AI systems that responded to every word and movement in real-time.

Beyond the stage, Turing’s holographic presence continued inside the Cyber Clinic Zone, an interactive space where innovation met play. There, attendees were invited to take the “Alan Turing Test,” a challenge to tell human and AI creations apart. Through voice prompts and touchscreens, participants conversed with Turing directly, debating answers, exchanging witticisms, and discovering how seamlessly machines now mimic intent.

Over the course of two days, more than 400 unique interactions turned the exhibit into one of the event’s busiest installations, shifting the question from whether AI could imitate people to how naturally it could collaborate with them.

Solution

Reconstructing Alan Turing
as a Real-Time Conversational Avatar

The Turing hologram began not with code but with curiosity. Acronis sparked the idea: what if Turing could speak not just for history, but directly to today’s tech community? From there, the project took shape through close collaboration between Acronis, the MSP GLOBAL organizers, and the RAVATAR team leading the avatar’s development.

Reconstructing Turing meant more than building a visual likeness. The process began with an investigation, as developers and designers sifted through letters, portraits, and interviews, decoding how he formed thoughts, carried himself, and worked ideas into speech. The goal was not just to restore his presence, but to recreate the quiet intensity he was known for and enable a form of reasoning that felt distinctly his.

The final avatar reflected that attention to nuance. His expression, posture, and voice were rebuilt from archival references and realized through contemporary animation and voice synthesis. Dressed in his signature tweed, he appeared composed, alert, and gently inquisitive, recognizably himself even to those who had only seen him in photographs.

On the technical side, the installation used real-time motion capture, neural voice generation, and context-driven dialogue models supported by a cloud-optimized backend. The entire avatar system ran on Google Cloud infrastructure, delivering consistent responsiveness and low-latency performance throughout. The AI logic handled intent recognition and response generation, while the system as a whole processed input and coordinated expression, speech, and gesture in milliseconds, producing an impression of spontaneous conversation.

As a result, visitors who approached expecting a demonstration found themselves in a conversation. The hologram listened, parsed intent, and responded with a clarity that felt both analytical and unexpectedly warm. In that moment beside the holobox, the idea of historical distance gave way to direct exchange.

Leadership Insight

At MSP GLOBAL, we focus on turning advanced ideas into experiences people can actually connect with. The Alan Turing hologram became one of those moments,” noted Christian Jaeger, CEO, MSP GLOBAL.

It gave thousands of attendees a clear sense of what a more human form of AI can look like. RAVATAR handled the installation in a way that tied the AI concept to its historical roots and still kept it natural for the audience.
