Tesla’s relentless experimentation and visionary thinking reshaped how we understand electricity and communication.
More than a century after his experiments lit up the world, Tesla returns not as a monument but as a mind in motion. Through real-time AI and holographic projection, RAVATAR set out to explore how his restless intelligence can once again speak in the language of today’s technology. The project reimagines presence itself, probing what it means when history begins to respond rather than simply be remembered. This vision found its first expression in Mexico, at Universidad Panamericana.

As one of Mexico’s leading Catholic universities, Universidad Panamericana has long stood for a balance of academic rigor and societal impact. When the university prepared to launch its fourth 2025 academic assembly under the theme “Navigating Change with Artificial Intelligence,” it sought a powerful symbol of continuity between past insight and future possibility. In that juncture, Tesla’s image, equal parts engineer, inventor, and thinker, became the perfect choice to frame that conversation.
Nikola’s digital presence set the tone for what followed: a holographic installation that gave the event a defining moment of intersection between heritage and horizon. The real-time, interactive Tesla AI avatar served as a symbolic reference point, placing established academic thought in dialogue with present‑day technological shifts and embodying the very innovation it addressed.

Holographic Tesla AI Avatar in Live Academic Dialogue
RAVATAR created a live, responsive AI Hologram of Nikola Tesla, positioned to command the stage during Claustro Académico 2025 4.0 at Universidad Panamericana. What made this performance unique was that the avatar acted as both panel speaker and interactive host. During the main program, Tesla delivered keynote-style reflections on invention, AI, and academic evolution. After the stage session, attendees could approach the holobox, ask questions, and engage directly with Tesla’s digital persona in a live dialogue.
The avatar’s appearance drew from archival photographs and his distinctive style: a dark suit, a contemplative gaze, an electric passion, and his readiness to probe “what’s next?” Behind the projection lay a long chain of choices: artistic, technical, and almost personal. The team shaped Tesla’s face one vertex at a time, adjusting movement and expression until every gesture aligned naturally with his words.
By the time the hologram stood upright, the figure had reached full coherence across tone, timing, and intent. Beneath the form, the logic was driven by detailed scripting and AI integration guided by Tesla’s own writings and documented reflections. In this balance between memory and mechanism, his likeness anchored him in the past while the underlying AI made the interaction feel live and unmistakably present.
