A digital human is a virtual personality in a computerized world that can interact with people in virtual or physical environments. It can be either fully artificially made or depicted from a real person. Such a digitalized individual is created using a combination of technologies like video shooting, voice recording, 3D scanning, 3D modeling, motion capture, and AI, usually being almost indistinguishable from an actual human.
Producing digital humans became possible due to the latest breakthroughs in the fields of machine learning, computer vision, and conversational AI. These virtual personas can possess individual character traits, manner of speaking, behavior, and a preliminary programmed set of functions to handle. This means digital humans can not only perform like chatbots in a visual wrapper but also represent, for example, virtual influencers or brand ambassadors.
